Transparency in government defined
Transparency in government is about openness, accountability, and accessibility in how decisions are made and how public resources are used. It means making information about government activities, policies, and decisions easily available to the public. This allows citizens to understand how their government operates, how decisions are made, and how taxpayer dollars are spent. Transparency builds trust between the government and its people, promotes accountability, and encourages more public participation in the democratic process.
My vision for transparency in government is to make county information easily accessible online, including detailed budget reports, records of county board meetings, and voting records for each commissioner on specific issues. Additionally, I propose holding regular town hall meetings, allowing direct interaction between citizens, commissioners, and administrators. This will foster open communication and mutual understanding. My vision is to prioritize openness, accountability, and active citizen engagement—key elements of a truly transparent and responsive government.
